Questions
Every 2–3 years for the best protection. Wood type, sun exposure, and the quality of the previous stain all affect the interval — when water stops beading on the surface, it's time.
Oil-based stains penetrate deeply for durability; water-based stains dry faster with fewer fumes. We recommend a stain based on your wood, your sun exposure, and the look you want.
Typically one to three days including cleaning, application, and drying, depending on the fence's size and condition and the weather.
Paint seals the surface, so stain can't penetrate and the result is blotchy. A painted fence should be stripped first, or simply repainted.
Consider your home's exterior colors, the natural tone of the wood, and the surrounding landscape. Darker stains show fading sooner in full sun; lighter and semi-transparent stains weather more gracefully. We bring samples.
